On 17.01.2025, the time had come again: trainees from twelve regional companies competed in the ninth edition of the Harting Trainee Cup in the round gymnasium in Espelkamp. Once again this year, a team from Kesseböhmer from all vocational and apprenticeship years took part, supported by numerous fans on site.
In preparation for the tournament, coach Lukas Klußmann invited his protégés to an intensive training and team-building session in the Wimmer multi-purpose hall. The team consisted of Christopher Gahl, Raffael Stab, Lenn Katzky, Bennet Fortmann, Mathis Klußmann, Thejs Krieger, Mathis Krause, Max Huge, Rocco Ehm, Gian Luca Wessel, Thomas Wanner and the co-trainers Nils Sieksmeyer and Niklas Hille.
Having fought their way through to the quarter-finals in the last editions of the tournament, this time it was clear from the outset that a top performance would be required for the Kesseböhmer team to progress in a real "hammer group", in which Merkur and Hettich, two multiple winners of the Azubi Cup, awaited them. Unfortunately, a partially newly formed Kesseböhmer team did not reach this required level of performance. Although they were able to improve from game to game over the course of the tournament and never gave up even when they were behind, they still ended the group stage with three clear defeats and an early exit from the tournament. After this rather disappointing tournament, the team found consolation and encouragement from the many fans who had traveled with them. Thanks to this support, it was once again a great pleasure for all players and coaches to represent the colors of Kesseböhmer at this year's tournament. Thank you very much for your support!
We would also like to thank Harting for the excellent organization of the tournament as always and all participating teams for the fair competition at all times. Our congratulations also go to the trainees from Merkur, who won the tournament in the final against the trainees from Häcker Küchen. The Kesseböhmer trainee team now needs to gather its thoughts and draw the right conclusions from this year's tournament in order to come back stronger next year and build on its previous successes.
