Over 60 years of electroplating experience go into every one of our products. With the construction of two electroplating plants (built in 2009 and 2017), unique electroplating facilities have been created throughout Europe that set new standards in terms of size, scope of automation and environmental compatibility.
This means that products from in-house production and as a service (contract coating) can be electroplated as rack goods for a wide range of applications in line with customer and demand requirements. Our electroplating shop specializes in: steel, stainless steel, brass, copper & bronze.
Coating structures can be produced with microporous or microcracked nickel to generate corrosion behaviour optimized for the respective application purpose .
In addition to electroplating, our electroplating systems also offer the option of electropolishing stainless steel components. This results in the following advantages for the workpieces:
Electroplating is an electrochemical process derived from surface technology, in which metals are deposited on metallic or metallized surfaces. It is mostly used for corrosion protection and to increase the wear resistance of workpieces. Electroplating can also be used for decorative purposes to improve the appearance of metallic workpieces.
Electroplating is a metal surface finishing process that creates functional and decorative layers on base materials. These coatings affect the appearance of the workpiece and provide the best possible protection against corrosion and wear. Galvanic coatings can also influence the conductivity, solderability, wear resistance and magnetic properties of the workpiece.
The optimum surface quality is achieved with more than 200 baths. With a product window of 3,600 x 1,400 x 600 mm, we can also guarantee surface treatment for larger components. 50 different surface finishes and variants, optionally even in automotive quality, are available: bright and matt chrome, matt, bright and pearlescent nickel, copper, as well as matt and bright gold. The Kesseböhmer range is also being expanded to include the elegant surface finishes of bright and matt black chrome.
Incidentally, the gold electrolyte at Kesseböhmer is the largest in Germany - it can also be used to gold plate large "pieces of jewelry".
Electroplating can give workpieces a coloration that differs from the base material. Chrome plating is particularly widespread as a decorative application.
Corrosion refers to the measurable change in a metallic material due to reaction with its environment, which can lead to functional impairment. Galvanic coatings can protect the substrate from corrosion in the atmosphere, aggressive media and contact corrosion.
By selecting a metallic coating with suitable properties, the conductivity, solderability, wear resistance and magnetic behavior of a workpiece can be influenced, among other things.
